Mike
Speakman, L.I.S.A.C., Anger Education Specialist and
Family Educator about Recovery from Addiction
Mike
is an Anger Education Coach and Licensed Substance Abuse
Counselor. In 1991, he developed the
first Anger Management Training Program for the Salvation
Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix,
Arizona.
Since
then, Mike has helped a wide range of people with his
innovative Anger Education Programs. He's developed and taught
workshops for counselors in both private and public agencies,
the general public, high-school and college students, and
in the criminal-justice system. Mike
is also the developer of SMARTS-Training®, a results-oriented Anger
Management Program used in treatment centers across the Country
since 1992. In 1996, he was named "Counselor of the
year" by the Arizona Association of Alcohol and Drug
Abuse Counselors.
In 2002, Mike became Director
of Speakman Coaching and Consulting and published his "Healthy Expressions of
Anger Workbook", a self-study
workbook he also uses in Coaching
Sessions with individuals and couples. Mike's
workbook is now available for sale to the
public and to other professionals as well.
Mike also
has an expertise in Family Education about
addiction. He has a passion for sharing practical knowledge
about recovery with the family members of
recovering addicts and alcoholics; knowledge gained
from working in the trenches at treatment centers
since 1988. He is also on staff at Calvary Addiction Recovery
Center, a Christian residential treatment program, where one
weekend a month he instructs family members at an
intensive Family
Weekend Training about recovery
from addiction. Calvary has been serving clients nationwide
since 1964 and has earned a national reputation for
excellence.
